Webcomic Transcript

Matt recently lost a lot of money investing in the stock market. He bought shares of a company he did not know about, following blindly the advice of a free newsletter he signed up for because it promised great gains, fast. Johnny: If you will, only follow the advice of what shares to buy from independent, paid, respectable financial services. Stay away from free newsletters that promise big gains fast. They are usually paid by companies in a bad financial situation to promote their shares! That unethical practice is known as "pump and dump". Many investors are duped and buy, the share price goes up momentarily but it then comes down. A few lucky investors win but most like Matt, lose. Be careful!

Misconceptions About Money

"Getting rich is a matter of luck or fate"
Few people get rich by luck or fate (as in winning the lottery or by inheriting a fortune.) Few more by criminal activities (thieves in high positions of governments or companies, drug dealers). But most millionaires and billionaires, the "good" ones (like Getty, Rockefeller or Kiyasaki), achieved their status by making their dreams come true. It all starts with a good idea, and follows with hard labor, a burning desire of making that dream come true, never quiting and learning from setbacks and failures, adapting to the market, perseverance, and other attitudes of successful people. The "good" ones must be doing something right so try to admire and model them to get in your road to riches.
